Expectations

We consider the Kolb site a learning site. Volunteers range in skill level from beginners to advanced. We take the time to teach you how archaeology is done and all volunteers do archaeological work while they are here. We expect volunteers to have a strong preservation ethic. We feel that you must have a strong preservation ethic so you can pass it along to other visitors to the site. You should also be willing to deal with all types of conditions (some years it snows, other years it is hot, and we've had everything in between). You will also be working with a group of other volunteers and staff, so the ability to work well with others is preferable. And last but not least, we work at the Kolb site. We dig, we screen, we wash artifacts on rainy days, so if you want to come and volunteer, be ready to work.
